Today I noticed several weblogs present a customized greeting to visitors. A bit of searching on the web lead me to GeoPhrases.
GeoPhrase provides a free service for presenting customized welcome messages on your web pages. They have a default greeting message which requires no registration.
Their basic service requires no sign up or registration - just cut and paste a very small piece of code onto your home page.
If you want to create your own message you have to sign up. All of it is FREE.
See my welcome message in the right corner of the top bar.

This sounded pretty good, until I read the details on how it works. The reason it is free is because for 1 in 50 accesses they redirect your visitor to their own page of advertisements. Since you don't get to see it youself (unless you refresh your page 50 times I suppose) you have no idea of what kind of advertisements they are showing your visitors, while they redirect them away from you webpage. Very bad.
